Ghost of Tsushima is an open-world action game developed by the studio behind the Sly Cooper and Infamous franchises, Sucker Punch. The title features just one playable character, Jin Sakai, who is fighting off the invading Mongols to reclaim his home island. In the game, players will have the option as noble samurai to confront their enemies or become the “Demon” and use deception and other deceitful tactics.

Sucker Punch has posted more information about Ghost of Tsushima in the run up to its publication. In May’s State of Play show, the studio gave us a much closer look at discovery and battle, and last week it described stances and Jin’s katana’s deadliness.

Although the release date for Ghost of Tsushima is quickly approaching, there is still time to pre-order a copy of the game and score some additional prizes, including a mini soundtrack and interactive theme for PS4. You can learn more in our pre-order guide to the Ghost of Tsushima.

Plot of the Game

Set on Tsushima Island in the year 1274, the game revolves around one of the island’s last samurai, Jin Sakai, during the first Mongol invasion of Japan. The armies of the Mongol Empire, utilizing weapons and military tactics unknown to the Japanese, have conquered and devastated many countries and Tsushima is all that stands between them and the mainland of Japan. The island was devastated by the first wave of the Mongol invasion; its samurai forces were easily defeated, allowing the invaders to conquer large portions of territory where they terrorize local residents and gather resources to build up their strength. Jin is one of his clan’s few survivors whilst trying to defend the island, wiped out. Jin realizes with his world broken, that the way he was trained to fight against such a powerful enemy is useless. Finally, he must master the way of the Ghost, an unorthodox method of combat that stresses small-scale attacks, induces terror in the enemy’s heads, and uses his own weapons against them, to destroy the Mongols and deter them from launching a complete invasion of the mainland.

Ilan Eshkeri ‘s explanation of the plot and the moral problems that the main character Jin will be facing sounds very fascinating, and it will be very exciting to see how it will be presented in the game. Luckily, we won’t have to wait any longer to get our hands on the card, as Ghost of Tsushima releases worldwide later this week, July 17th.
